Dr. Alan Schreck: St. Francis and Pope Francis: Comparing Their Vision

Pope Francis choose to honor St. Francis with his papal name stating, “He is the man of poverty, the man of peace, the man who loves and protects creation.”

Dr. Alan Schreck, Professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, examines the parallels between St. Francis and Pope Francis in the areas of mercy, marriage and family, creation, and evangelization in his talk entitled “St. Francis and Pope Francis: Comparing Their Vision.” Dr. Schreck examines these themes more fully in his book St. Francis and Pope Francis: Prayer, Poverty, and Joy in Jesus. His talk was part of the Pope Francis’ Vision for the Renewal of the Church Symposium at Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke: Addressing the Instrumentum Laboris

Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, the Cardinal Patronus of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, delivered this keynote address entitled “Canonical Questions Regarding the Proposed Pastoral Care of the Faithful Who Are Divorced and Have Attempted Marriage.”

Cardinal Burke’s talk was part of an event entitled “Addressing the Instrumentum Laboris”, discussing the Synod on the Family.
